here's the ny times review of that michael moore film
you know, in case you were interested. it's a decent review. i am not sure i always agree, but it's a decent review.
i think that they overlook the images and their impact, and they overstate other aspects of the film. but whatever.

here's something interesting though ...
one of the trailers we saw at the michael moore film was for the new spike lee joint. i don't have a lot to say about it, other than it may turn out to be the best sl joint since girl 6. well ... i don't remember when he got gamecame out, but whatever.
anyway, here is an interview with lee about the new flic.
is this all they got?
well ... i went and saw the new michael moore film this weekend. it was good. but it was not as good as you might expect, if you are a fan. i mean, max and sandee both thought the movie was pretty good, though it left them feeling less than joyfull as we left the theatre.
me, i just was not impressed. it was nothing compared to bowling for columbine. it wasn't as funny. it wasn't as deep. it wasn't as broad. and i think that those presented problems for me, as a fan of his films.
for most people, though, i think that this film is about politics. and if thier politics agree with moore's, then they will most likely like the film. if they don't, they probably won't.
but ironically, i think it should be the exact opposite. the people who need to see this movie are the ones who don't agree. let them come forward and try and poke holes in moore's plot.
i think the plot lacks, meself. i don't think it talks about carlyle group enough. i don't think that he tells us enough about the falling out between the taliban and the united states. but he does put a lot of effort into the relationship between the united states and the kindom of saud -- which i think is paramount to the post-911 environment in the states.
this here is an article that i found on the fox news web site. numbers differ about the innacuracies in the movie, but i figured that fox would have the exact opposite viewpoint than moore. but this is all i found.
and simply put, it does nothing. minor differences. nothing is disputed as being incorrect, just as inaccurate. i don't know, read it for yourself.
it makes me think that maybe moore's movie might get people out to vote against bush. who knows? i know that for the first time in a long time, i feel like there might be hope -- that bush may not be re-elected. i am still fairly confident that he will win, and we will soon decline into the wolrd war iii atmosphere.
but what the fuck do i know?

and it goes on ... and on ... and on
all of the data adds up. but still, i remain convinced that george w. bush will be president come next january. people just don't seem to be outraged enough, even if the same policy is found in every action we have taken in this post-911 era. i can't say it enough, it's just nearing the end of the Pax Americana. and soon ... we will have to face change.
after all, i don't think there is any reason to think that the rapture will come next year. and i bet you anything, if it does, ddubya has about as good of a chance as i do of being saved, spared the horrible end. whatever.
Dick is a dick ... fucking the rest of us in the ass
well ... it's nice to see that someone is on the right track. but whatever. no one seems to care about the role that oil and natural gas have played in the advent of the post-911 era.
The New York Times > Movies > The Like-Minded Line Up for a 9/11 Film
well ... i am going to see it this weekend. i doubt that it will be anymore biased than any other moore movie. and really, i could give a fuck about the politics of the issue.
of course, i, like the people in this story, am more inclined to empathize with moore's points of view. but who cares?
i am just hoping it is a funny movie. and really, i think it will be. so there.
BBC NEWS | Americas | US war crimes immunity bid fails
i do think it would be really interesting if one day we saw the leaders of the united states answering before an international court for what i believe are transgretions not only against all americans, but the world community.
who really knows, though. i am not sure the soil is quite fertile enough for the seeds of change to grow in america. i fear that we may live in this isolated image of independence that remains so dominant in our culture.
either way, this prison scandle doesn't seem too unlike watergate. i am not sure the transgretion is all that significant, but it just keeps on going -- poking holes in the hull of the administration. does anyone smell and impeachment?
i wouldn't count on it. i think that because of the political nature of impeachments, they aren't all that likely unless you have a significant chasm between the two parties. unless the democrats are going to unite and stand against bush, there isn't really a good chance that we will see change until after the end of his second term.
ohhhh ... i think i am full of hot air.

Beating by LAPD Officer Airs on TV
now this doesn't suprise me at all. it does, though, make me wonder if anyone will ever learn. well ... fuck the racist pigs.
sacbee.com -- News -- Student guilty in rape case
this is kind of interesting. i don't know what i think, so i won't get into it. i just thought it was interesting.
but i will say, if the boy is a rapist, i am not sure that i agree with the decision not to try him as an adult. but whatever.
The New York Times > Washington > Inmates: White House Says Prisoner Policy Set Humane Tone
first news story of wednesday. i wonder how all of this unfold. will rumsfeld really turn out to be the scapegoat? and do i really believe that bush didn't want the torture?
one thing's for sure, it was torture, no matter what anyone says about it. now ... was it uncalled for? now that's a different question. i would say yes, but i would be more tolerant of an argument that came out and said it, rather than the 'deny, deny, deny' policy that seems to be in effect here.
