BBC NEWS | Americas | US war crimes immunity bid fails
i do think it would be really interesting if one day we saw the leaders of the united states answering before an international court for what i believe are transgretions not only against all americans, but the world community.
who really knows, though. i am not sure the soil is quite fertile enough for the seeds of change to grow in america. i fear that we may live in this isolated image of independence that remains so dominant in our culture.
either way, this prison scandle doesn't seem too unlike watergate. i am not sure the transgretion is all that significant, but it just keeps on going -- poking holes in the hull of the administration. does anyone smell and impeachment?
i wouldn't count on it. i think that because of the political nature of impeachments, they aren't all that likely unless you have a significant chasm between the two parties. unless the democrats are going to unite and stand against bush, there isn't really a good chance that we will see change until after the end of his second term.
ohhhh ... i think i am full of hot air.
